In 2003 the Lord challenged Village Baptist to step out in faith and start an evangelistic and humanitarian outreach on the east coast of India.  In 2004 ASHA Ministries commenced.

ASHA Outreach

The evangelistic arm of Asha Ministries has a team of four full-time and sixteen part-time evangelists planting Churches and providing social assistance in rural villages in the states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.  This team has planted many new Churches, and thousands of new believers have been baptized.

In 2012/13 we built five new church buildings in India and in 2015 funded five more church buildings in rural villages.  In 2018 three new churches are in the process of being built thanks to the 2017 Legacy Offering.

Havelock Hostel & Centres

This is the humanitarian arm of Asha Ministries.  Situated in Odisha & Andhra Pradesh, our centres care for needy children from desperately poor rural villages. The running of the centres is funded by sponsorship, with most sponsors living in Havelock North and Hastings. In late 2006, we purchased land on the outskirts of Khurda, and in 2010 built a new centre and accommodation for Havelock Children's Home which is now Havelock Hostel @ Khurda.  In 2017 two new centres were opened one in Odisha and one in Andhra Pradesh.  ASHA MINISTRIES are fully funded through Village Baptist Church.  Joint Boards, ASHA NZ Board and ASHA India Board, administer the work.
